The Ban of 89 Applications by the Indian Army, which includes the likes of Tiktok, Facebook, and even Truecaller in an effort to keep the armed forces safe from any international spying and plug any sort of Data Leak.
— ANI (@ANI) July 8, 2020 The Ban includes applications from China and even the USA and the Scandanavia. As per the applications present in the ban, army personnel from now on cannot use Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, and even Truecaller because it might leak their numbers to the public and other Social Media platforms to prevent Honeytraps and leakage of information that is classified. The army personnel has even been asked to delete Dating and Coaching apps from their phones. The ban also includes the ban on the 59 apps that were banned earlier this month to put pressure on the Chinese economy after the killing of 20 Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley. The ban has also extended onto apps like Reddit, which has a significant userbase in India. The Army has also banned Mobile Games from the company Tencent. PUBG and some more are owned by a company called Tencent, which is a company in China that specializes in making Mobile Games. As of the release of this order, all Army officials have to uninstall any of the 89 Apps that are present on their Android or iOS devices. The ban is a good move to keep the data safe of the personnel who serve in the Military. Source- ANI
